I've ended up covering it in some tank repair stuff, as much as i didn't want to do that i also don't want to be with out a gauge. It should do until i find a tank with the write sender.

thanks for the help

saying that i still dont know if it would work my bet is get a sammy sender unit plug your gauge on it and move the sender to see if there gauge goes up and down ;)
I didnt even see that, would of answered half my question! Will look harder next time.

Can you still just put the one wire on for the gauge? I'm guessing the other 2 are for a warning light? Also wil there be a difference between the Spanish and the Japanese setups?
Whats wrong with the tank you have?

thought i burst it trying to get out a bog, backed onto a fallen tree. Didn't notice for a while. but when i did look properly its just rotten. went over it with a srew driver knocking the bad bits out and filling them with this stuff. then washed it out with some petrol and chucked it back on with a new filter. Hope it holds for now.
