Re: What Wire?
I Googled UK Vehicle Battery Cable Specifications and there are quite a few choices you can click on - this web site looked particularly helpful and easy to understand but it does seem that you have to know the spec of what you need. Can you not do some measuring of your existing cable or maybe someone else's identical vehicle to arrive at a decision? I can measure the cables on my 410 if that helps.

Re: What Wire?
bit of 25mm2 flex or tri-rated will do the trick for an alternator cable upgrade. guess the cable for the starter is about that size so if you wanted to upgrade that maybe use a bit of 35mm2.

I used a bit of cable that was left over from a winch install

Re: What Wire?
The specs for the starter on the SJ 1300 and the vit 1600 are
So I assume a cable rated at 150amps would suit ??
To be honest I would take the old cable to the motorist shop and let them match it, I know my local store sells it off the roll, or as above http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/V ... ycable.php
I don't fully understand the figures IE Locked rotor current
Trying to start a locked/seized engine maybe

Re: What Wire?
The standard cable from the battery to alternator has a fuselink on it to protect the main loom.
Also the wiring shows all the loads are spliced off it and therefore the supply to them can come directly from either the alternator or the battery. I guess you could disconnect the original wire and isolate at the alternator end, but leaving the fuselink end connected to supply everthing and run a new wire from the alternator direct to the battery. What's wrong with the original wire?

Re: What Wire?
The only wire I'd change is the battery to starter motor.
The only reason I actually changed mine was because I moved the battery to the passenger side.

Re: What Wire?
The white and yellow wire goes to the alternator main output terminal. There is a connection in that large plastic sleeve that would go to this terminal. I see what looks like the link wire, it should have a ring terminal on the other end but it looks in the photo like it goes through a grommet elsewhere. The plug to the alternator normally has two wires under that black outer sleeve, A black/white (live from ignition) and a Red/white (to dash warning light).
