Hi,

Quick note on electric fans... be warned, with electric fans you get what you pay for!
I had a £20 ebay special which packed up in short order.
My current fan looks almost identical, apart from an obviously better quality motor and fan blades
Cost £60 and has so far lasted 3 times as long as the cheap one!!!

The cheap ones probably don't move a lot of air either. For a good quality cheap fan have a rummage around the local breakers.

I didn't have that problem, managed to keep my 1.6 16v engine cool despite only having a sammy radiator
However, I agree with rhinoman, if you go to a breakers there are plenty of cars about with electric fans and you can probably find a cheap kenlow or something

I have found that a 14" fan is pretty good for a samurai/413 rad, whereas a 12" fan is suitable for a 410 radiator

You would probably still have to buy your own temp switch, most modern-ish cars seem to have their leccy fan controlled by the ECU, but temp switches to fit SJ top hoses are easy to get hold of on Ebay

Will run it off a dash mounted switch anyway so I have full control of it. Don't want it coming on just as I'm about to dive into some water.

Used to work for a breakers so will go down there when I get a chance to get a few rads. This one will do for now, needed one sharpish as the viscous is starting to damage my radiator (Which is a brand new rad).

Yeah similar set up to what I have then
I have my fan running via a relay, switch, and temp sensor
Only problem is I only had one switch at the time of wiring so the fuel pump is on the same switch
if I want to wade I have to get out before the float bowl empties itself ;)

Mines set up on a thermo switch and 3 way switch...so it's either temp controlled, on or off. this is the best set up I think as you don't want to just have it 100% manually controlled. it's too easy to forget to turn it on and then overheat. I just leave mine on the thermoswitch and then flick it off if i'm going into deep water

Good idea that ^^

Just another thought. Diff breathers...
My diffs just have the plastic caps on them. Are these suffice to keep water out, or should I remove them, and run pipes up to the roof?

Remove them and run pipes....the caps never work :lol: don't to forget Tbox and gearbox breathers as well.
