Post by Richie » Sat Nov 24, 2012 5:21 pm

Hi all, after about 30 man hours i have allmost finished my 2 inch body lift lol.
atm it has
31 inch tyres
2 inch lift shackles front and rear
2 inch body lift

everything else is standard

DO i need to mod or change anything else to make this drive well on/off road with the extra 2 inch body lift?
I.e steering colum length, steering bar etc?
Thx, Rich

I would say wheel spacers. Unless your wheels have a real good offset. Otherwise it will foul chassis and possibly bulk head even though you've done the body lift on full lock.

What Jordi said but if you have a 413 transfer case, get a 410 one. I knoweth about 31" tyres with a standard case...you lose so much power...
If it ticks over...leave it

the wheels are 15 inch vitara deep dish (10 inches wide) as far as i know they dont hit on the body but ive rolled the inner arches back alittle :)

Its a 410 with a 4 speed box, before i put the 31s on i had 27s and we could hit 74 mph :D
As long as it can sit about 55-60mph im happy, if not then i will get around to putting a 1.6 vitara or 3.5 rover engine in.

so as far as u guys know i shouldnt have any other probs with the extra lift?

Personally I would see if you can fit standard length shackles now that you have the body lift. it will improve the steering response and handling. The longest shackles I would run on an SJ with standard springs would be around 90-100mm between bolt centres.
