1987 sj410 xud engine, coil sprung and Toyota axles
Re: 1987 sj410 xud engine, coil sprung and Toyota axles
Really enjoying this build! Can’t wait to see it progress some more.
I was planning on doing a similar rear end on my new build so it’s awesome to see it on someone else’s truck.

Thanks Scottie. Hopefully make some more progress this weekend. Looking forward to getting it home so I can work on it at my leisure.
What was you planning on doing for the roof out of curiosity

The plan was to do the back end of the LJ270 like this so it won’t really have a roof….just a bit of aluminium to meet comp regs
I’m presuming you are going to run into issues with a roof and the cage B hoop hence the question? You could cut strategically placed holes with a slit into the soft top and then seal with a flap of rubber (or wetsuit material) sewn in and some Velcro flaps.

Well as a quick fix I bought a new roof from India that is a soft top but changes it into a pick up effectively. That will work how it is now but ideally I'd like to have a full roof in the end.
I just like to hear others ideas etc just like you have given! Always good to brainstorm.

Braved the cold today and got a few more hours in.
Welded some tabs onto the chassis and made the bottom radiator bracket, I folded some 3mm steel and fit some oe land rover rubber mounts for the 200tdi radiator.

It'll be driving in no time. Like the rad size my mate did a xud swap and struggled for right rad. Think he ended with something wider. But that looks perfect for the job

Radiator and fan now mounted finally, made a little bracket that holds the top of the rad straight and the slimline fan.
Started to cut the front arches out to give clearance for the extra wheelbase on bump.
Just waiting on James to finish the rear cage so I can carry on, it's ready to run and drive when I put some fuel in.
The door was on just to check everything lines up, which it does

I'm holding off, as soon as James finishes the rear I can paint it then bolt the fuel tank in for final time. It's hard resisting though!timwilks13 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 2:52 amSo put some fuel in and run and drive it then
