SJ416 Samurai Build
Re: SJ416 Samurai Build
Hey everyone overdue a update. Decided to change some things up again and try get the SJ in a better state.
Main thing I wanted to do was move the fuel tank from behind the seats to back under the rear of the car. Had to modify some of the original mounts and make up some bars to take the vitara tank but managed to get it into place and get the rear sealed back up. Also decided to put a half bulkhead in behind the seat to try stop the water running in from the back.
Also got round to swapping the Tailgate over and cut the tailights into the bumper for abit more protection.
Thought it was time to put some decent new springs on aswell as I've been running second hand ome for a while. Got all my bushes and springs fitted. Drilled the rear perches a inch back. But sadly I'm still waiting on my shocks arriving. The dealer ran out and there on back order from Australia but I've been told they should be here next month. Anyway one last picture of how she's currently sitting and hopefully more to update soon
Thanks for your time
Martin

Re: SJ416 Samurai Build
Ticked a few jobs of the list today! Made some new Headlight mounts. The previous where made in a rush and one ended up snapping. So now there made of 2mm steel and have had a nice coat of zinc primer before being painted black like the light boxes. Also decided to remove the transfer box handbrake as I'm going to try something different instead. Then finally I mounted a carbon canister from a jimny as all the vitara ones I could find where to far rotten. Still need to get some hoses to pipe it up but atleast then the fuelling system will be plumbed up as intended.
Will hopefully manage back up during the week to possibly make a start to preparing the body for paint, nothing special just another roller job. Will probably need to wait till payday to order the paint but least it'll be ready for when it gets here. Probably still beat the shockys
Cheers Martin

Good work Martin. Disc handbrake is much better than the transfer in my opinion if that's the route your going down. Looking good
Re: SJ416 Samurai Build
Cheers its taking its time I will be going down the disk route but thinking of using a hydro set up.

Re: SJ416 Samurai Build
Hello again been lacking on the updates. Got through a bunch of jobs. It's been painted again. Still got to do the roof and finish some the sill around the hole for the side exit. With the vitara tank in the back I've not much space for the exhaust. So it's having to come out the sill.
Also added a hydro to the factory handbrake for a little bit extra. Drum on the tbox isn't in the best of shape and I had one lying around.
Hoping to get the exhaust made this week one night. Having to put a bigger box in as it's abit loud with the one narrow resonator.
