Re: dirty head
Personally I think that you should remove the head and the sump (which will be just as bad) and get it chemically cleaned by a professional engine building company. The oil filter and oil galleries will have no chance to deliver the flow of oil at the correct rate with it all gummed up. I'd be very ...

Re: Fitting gear box
I'm sure you've worked this out for yourself but it doesn't hurt to state the obvious sometimes. Quite often putting in the gearbox can be difficult because you get knackered with the effort and all the wiggling in the world is a waste of time - lift the rear of the box so that it's parked on the cr...

Re: Gearbox Rebuilding
I may have said this before - I certainly did to someone with a similar problem, when you contact your local Suzuki Dealer for parts, always have your full chassis number to hand. This is the only sure way of positively identifying your vehicle. I've never had a problem in getting parts - admittedly...

Re: Gearbox bearing re build kits
Ok pugsley thanks for the advice,if I wanted to replace just that bearing any ideas where I might get one from? Looks like you have eliminated the bearing we were talking about but just incase you do decide to change it - any bearing supplier will be familiar with the alpha numeric coding you menti...

Re: Gearbox bearing re build kits
I've not actually rebuilt a 5 speed unit but a few months ago I did so on my 4 speed sj410 (now sold) - yes the bearing you describe was the sealed type, possibly exactly the same specification you described. I think it is important to replace it with correct type because the plastic cover on the be...

Re: top end rattle on 410
I'm talking from memory as I don't have my sj410 to refer to (sold it) but I completely rebuilt my engine also and it was only in the nick of time that I realised that the two oil feed tubes which lubricate the cam have to be orientated so that they are the correct way round. If these are not correc...

Re: Engine High low Revs on its own problem?
Very likely to be an induction air leak which you may be able to test by squirting WD40 or similar at areas that have been disturbed when you fitted the carb - if an air leak is present, the revs should respond to the WD40 as it gets burnt in the cylinders, (be careful not to start a fire!). Also ma...

Re: Mystery rear brake cylinder
Important that when bleeding the rear brakes that you bleed this valve also - if you clean it up I'm sure you will find that it has a bleed valve. Be extremely careful when undoing the bleed valve as it is pretty weak and it will be corroded in - from memory it's an 8 mm spanner size. I had to compl...

Re: Spongy brake issue
Absolutely as Darrell says - the wheel cylinder should be at the top of the brake back plate. I can only talk from a sj410 point of view because I don't know if this applies to the 413 but it is imperative that the wheel cylinders are correct for the vehicle based on its country of build. My 410 was...

Re: Well it just broke my heart!
I did have two rear drive shafts and sold one. The one left is minus the rearmost uj carrier if you see what I mean so the rear is shaped like a double "U" - with the "U" turned to the left with two holes to recieve that part of the uj bearings. Difficult to explain that one! It ...
