Need a bit more.

Post by Ant161 » Tue Dec 24, 2013 9:18 pm

Hey guys.
I've at last done my first pay and play and loved it. The little sammy was easily in the top 3 of the trucks there even with a novice behind the wheel ( me ).
The only thing I noticed wrong with it was with the slight lack of power due to the huge tyres it has fitted.
I just wondered if there was some way to give my 1300 just a little more umph. Not the 1600 just a bit more. Cheers guys.

410 T box is what alot of people use, the gearing is lower so that should help, maybe a 1600 head? SU carb? a 1.6 would be a fairly easy swap for you as youll already have most of what is needed likt the 413 gearbox, flywheel and clutch, sump and pickup pipe, all youll need is a 1.6 with inlet manifold and ancillaries, i believe the 413 exhaust manifold bolts straight onto the 1.6 head...

They are 33 inch.
A mate of mine is selling his 413 with a 1.6 8v conversion and said he would swap motors before he sells. I just like the idea of getting a little more from the 1300.

is it the one in wigan by any chance? there is a guy selling a 413 with 1.6 8v in wigan, think if you use it properly it would be a great offroader :)

ahh i didnt see that it says you're in leicester, ive driven through leicester before on the way to kettering, wouldnt want to buy something that far away lol, ive been told the 1.6 is really worth it, ive got the 1.0 in mine and it does better than some disco's so id love to know what it would be like with a 1.6...

Even with a 1.6 on 33" tyres you need something like a rock lobster to correct the gearing.

I run 1.6 8v with a rock lobster on 33s, gearing is still a bit high for my liking so Ive acquired a set of 4.8 diffs too.

There's not much you do with a.1.3. Aftermarket exhaust and SU carb.conversion. After that it's 1.6 conversion.
