Vitara suspension

Before I spend a wad of dosh I need some clarification...will Grand Vitara coils and dampers fit a normal (lol) Vitara? If so will I encounter any problems with props etc? Just asking because the rears are pretty knackered and I'd rather spend my money on something that'll give the old girl a bit of lift.

i fitted the gv springs to my vit and they went on fine.
only problem i had was the spacers that i have fitted aswell didnt sit right against the gv springs on the rear but i altered the spacers so they fit correctly.
but if you dont have spacers they will go straight on.

Did you upgrade the dampers to GV as well? On ebay a set of those are £40, standard Vit ones are more like £90 which makes no sense to me!

Nice one...thing is will they fit the standard Vit? Can you get a pic too?

on mine i have shock spacers to bring the shocks down a bit.but my shocks are still standard.

although mk2 astra rear shocks will fit on the back and are longer than standard vitara ones.
on the front you wont get enough articulation to warrant different shocks in my opinion.

My understanding is GV springs give a bit of lift, about 1.5" (37mm to you young un's), but reduce flex without shock extenders.

Just checked out mk2 Astra shocks and holy shit...£20 a pair instead of £90 for Vit ones. Before I order these do they really fit? Not doubting anyone's integrity

Yep they do fit, I fitted them on my brothers vitara and it worked really well, it was sat on standard springs with spacers and still had spring dislocation :-P

Astra Mk2 shocks work fine, if you feel a bit fruity get the bilstien ones there about £50 a set, but standard are just as good.

You can also gain "3 off lift on the rear using Rover 600 springs. And 2.5/3" on the front using Mercedes 202 springs, but then you need diff brackets and helm spacer etc.

But IMO get Gv springs, for a full all round 1.5" lift. its safe and gives you enough for those rutted places
