Top dead centre

Post by timwilks13 » Tue Mar 05, 2013 3:05 pm

Tomorrow I'm timing my sj410 as somewhere along the line all my ignition has gone wrong, anyone got any hints for finding top dead centre on cylinder 1? Cheers!

I use a bit of dowel usually.
Poke in the spark plug hole til it is sitting on the top of the cylinder, then turn the engine via the crank pulley nut (turn clockwise).
When on compression stroke (harder to turn) and the dowel is lifted up as must as it can be, that should be TDC
