Are KJA springs the same as standard springs?

Post by Jordi » Thu Feb 21, 2013 9:01 pm

I had a look at mine today and am pretty sure the springs are knackered.

Just wondered if the springs are the same as a normal SJ?

Or are they uprated at all?

Cheers

I'm pretty sure the maximum load in the back of a KJA is the same as a standard LWB.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Yeah, but I think lwb rear springs are longer than swb rear springs, I think the kja uses the same springs as lwb, but don't order them yet...... i'd wait for scottie!

I'm pretty sure they are the same length.

The odd thing is that the rear spring mounting points (spring and shackle hangers) on the swb are actually 10mm further apart than on the lwb looking at the chassis diagrams, either way this will just effect the shackle angle slightly so the springs should be exactly the same.

swb is 975.5mm
lwb is 965.5mm

Cheers lads. Next time i'm under it i'll measure the distance between mounts scott, see if it's the same.

Its been snowing on and off and generally miserable all day so i haven't been out yet. I'll also whip a wheel off and get a photo of the current springs.
