new to the site

Post by bantam23sj410 » Tue Mar 03, 2009 5:49 pm

hi all im bantam from south wales am an sj410 owner for the last six years have recently draged her out of the field where its stood for the last year untouched and am currently toying with the idea of modifying it as cheaply as possible.
as a welder fabricator i can quite easily get my hands on the necessary materials and machienery/tools for making accesories for the sj my main problem at the moment is finding info on what engines fit the standard sj box.
theres nothing wrong with the punny 970 engine thats in at the moment but as each part of the body is being repaired with 2mm zintec in its most vulnerable places arches inner wing and bonnet sides im concerned about the extra weight
plus the 1mm zintec im using everywhere i need it.
ive also purchased a vitara 1600 8v just for any parts i can salvage for my sj but have noticed the engine is burning a lot of oil so ive gone and bought a ford p100 with a cracking 1800 turbo derv engine and box and was wondering how much room there would be to fit the box aswel as the engine any info greatly appreciated.
its an 86 sj410v by the way

thanx bantam

A virual beer! whats that??

Welcome to the forum matey!

I'm sure you'll be able to squeeze the derv engine and gearbox in! you shouldn't be too worried anyway as a welder if it doesn't fit you can just chop out and build a new transmission tunnel
