I'm gonna get rid of them points, I've got a spare Sammy distributor, now will the 410 coil be man enough? Or do I need to track down a Sammy one?
Cheers Chris

Ill be corrected no doubt, but if the sj coil has an external ballest resistor you are best to use the sj413 coil.

I agree

Why is that just out of interest ?

I believe its to do with the internal resistance of the coils being different and the electronic sj413 dizzy does not like it. I'm sure someone will be along soon with the correct technical info.

Only because you know that you are using the correct coil to match electronic ignition.
Well had to go search for some info to see what the differences are.

410 coil primary windings = 1.5 ohms secondary 10,000 ohms
413 coil primary windings = 1.35-1.65 ohms secondary 11,000 - 14,500 ohms

Much the same on the primary, but not sure how they would behave as the 410 coil is fed about 9v after the ballast resistor apart from starting.
The 413 coil is fed 12v all the time.

So as long as the 410 coil is still used with the ballast resistor I would assume it would be ok, however I would think the 413 coil would give a slightly better/bigger spark :er:

Hell, what do I know

I would use a 413/samurai coil just for the fact that is what it originally ran with.

Any motor factors should be able to get them.

Found one in me shed think it's a samurai coil, not sure
I'll try a motor factors later thanks
