vac pipe

can anyone tell me where this pipe goes. its on a 1.6 standard carb, is it important?

i know an su would be better but i aint got 1 or the money

I'm not 100% sure but it might go to one of the 3 vacuum points on the inlet manifold pretty much underneath where it is. However I might be wrong as its part of the idle up system and I completely removed all that on mine so I can't remember.

It's not that important all it does it pick up the revs when you turn on the lights or heaters. If you do take it all off just bridge the two left over back points with a bit of the tube.

cheers scott it goes to the purple bsv, i think its called mine fell to pieces and after much fidling about i was left with pipes everywhere most of which were obvious but i wasnt sure about this 1 so just thought id ask to make sure i wasnt blocking some thing important

Its not... I think he means the vaccum advance which alters the engine 'spark' timing as the engine rpms increase, but I don't know, i thought the vac advance came from the inlet manifold?

sorry i meant its a vac on the carb which controls the throttle butterfly, i was led to believe by suzuki main dealer thats what it was for.
the vac on the dissy is connected on the engine side of the carb
hope that makes sense

Heres what mine looks like. It hasn't got a pipe on it, it just has a piece of what looks like cotton wool stuck in the end.
