Another day, another 410! I will call him Ghy

Here it is a van back 1987 410 Purchased a few years ago and it's been sat on a mates farm ever since. I finally thought it was time for it to be revived! suprisingly it is solid and I dont need to do any welding on it it just needs a bit of a tidy up and a few new bits here and there.

The plan is to keep this one nice and simple as it's going to be used as a daily drive by both the missus and I and for some gentle green laning. No pay and plays for this one!

Planned spec:
RUF conversion
215/80r15 M/Ts possibly slightly bigger???
Rocklobster
Snorkel
H/D front & rear bumpers with decent tow points
Smooth belly (raise the transfer box etc.)
Internal roll hoop.

Removed the front bull bars, taken the radiator out as it was fooked and i've got another one to go in, removed front and rear props for new UJs. removed the transfer box as it had a 413 one in it and I have a 410 one that i'm going to rebuild for the time being until I get a rocklobster. Fitted the old dizzy as I stole it years ago for my other SJ but that now has a 1.6 so Ghy can have it back And I must get rid of those evil Shackles


I've noticed a bit of a pattern forming between Tony and I. We have 3 sjs all with a similar start to the reg plates D26, D36 and D86

Nice. Looks like a real solid project car that. love the look of a 410 without the arches, slatted grille etc. should make and idela daily driver. see what you mean about the shackles!

any way must be saved MUST look standard.

p.s. loose the head light. also will it be the original green or a littel brighter this time....

Dont worry tony this one is just being tidied up and probably wont ever see mr angry well unless it's ever needed for rust repairs it has had quite a few patches repaired in the past but luckily it's all been done pretty well on the external bits

And i dunno about the lights, I kinda like them, I think they are off a mk2 escort, we'll see though.

If there are any mods that end up being done to it then all of them will be easily put back to standard as I do agree with you on the fact that too many are being modded and trashed. soon there wont be any decent ones left I might just keep it the same colour as it is already, haven't got a clue what colour it was originally? I'll look up the paint code

Damn forgot to check the paint code today, however................

I got it fired up for the first time since i've owned it and she purrs, no knocks or taps just sweet smooth running, well the carb needs a few tweaks it has been sat for a few years and i was expecting the worst so it was a pleasant surprise! I love 410 lumps just gotta fit the fuel tank and some props and i'll be able to take it for a little test drive round the farm!
