2009 jimny 4x4 selection problem

Post by MAYFAIR » Wed Apr 02, 2025 2:00 pm

Hello

2009 Jimny manual

have just fitted new suzuki vacuum pipes ( what a job) connect all vacuum pipes I can hear hubs clicking but wont
move from 4 low on dash - the original fault I had was not moving out of 4 low ,the vacuum metal pipes were all rotten
and crumbling at the front

the 2wd switch does not seem to operate, when the switch for 4wd is pressed the hubs are trying to click in quite loudly
i am sure i have the vacuum pipes on the way they came off - cannot seem to figure this one out as never had to do this job before

can anyone offer advice on this

many thanks Alan

Try reversing for 20m+ or so before shifting back into 2wd. It could just be a bit of transmission wind up in the transfer box.

hi

just tried what you suggested ,but still the same - when comes out of 4 low should it show 4H on the dash ?

the 2wd has never lit up , as mentioned before i can hear the hubs on the front activating - what should it show on the dash when goes into 2wd ?

could it be the relays under the dashboard - never worked on the 4wd on a jimny before that has electric opp hubs so a little bit a "new starter"

cheers Al

Hello again

managed to crawl under transfer box and noticed a wire off the sensor on top of case - ordered a new one so hope that
sorts the select fault - has 2 wires to it one age corroded and parted from the switch

will update when fitted

Al
