Whirring sound in gearbox on SQ416 grand vitara

Post by suzvit » Fri Jun 14, 2024 9:40 am

Hello all,
Im in need of immense help from you knowledgeable folk.
My grand vitara started making a whirring sound, a rough whirring sound from the gear box.
I took into the mechanic, he confirmed i needed to change gearbox which i did. It hasn't stop this whirring sound.
Now, what exactly happens:
I can hear it when car is idling with no weight on the gears and when i press the clutch it stops.
It increases when travelling in some gears and not others.

I also had the clutch discs changed with the change of the gearbox.

I am really close to a fall out with the mechanic but my knowledge isn't enough to corner him. He cannot deny that there's something wrong but won't admit to it either. He says it could be the bearings in the gearbox or the throw-bearing of the clutch.
What do you guys think? Have you had any similar problems? Could it be something else? Like the actual gears in the box?
Oh one last thing : the ac since the gearbox change smells of engine oil. Not much but its unpleasant. This one's screwed immensely with my mind. Anyone wanna hazard a guess as to why?

Thanks a lot, in advance for your info, you kind knowledgeable folk!!
