Difference in body styles?

Is there any difference in the general body shape between the SJ410 and the Samurai? I've been looking at photos and cant seem to find much difference at all except for the mouldings and trim. The reason I ask is that I'm currently overhauling my 410 and want to convert it to soft top. There are plenty of brand new soft tops for sale on ebay at quite a reasonable price but they are for the 86-95 Samurai. Im going to be cutting the top off the 410 to make the soft top fit but I wanted to make sure that the two vehicles are reasonably close in body dimensions so I can avoid a sloppy conversion look.

Also, I bought a tube bender yesterday to make my own roll cage. Wish me luck!

is it a hard top? why change yes the soft top is novelty but the hard top is so much more secure, if i was to change my sj, id want a 410 hard top, the 410 engine becuase it revs higher and is more fun to drive, and the hard top becuase the t**ts that live near me might not be so interested.

Luke

P.s. if your still going to go ahead with it, yeah the sammy and standard sj use the same soft top mounts

you will have a hard jod 2 do that.
you will not have the fixing point ova the window. + 2 popers
you will not have the runners for the top down the back off the cad.
also the poppers round the back and door.
an for the b post and door frames you will not have them when cutting your old roof off.
also you will be left with no thick ness in the back where you cut the side panels off
hope this makes sense??
ill try an show you.

Your best bet is to pick up a soft top body and fit the new body onto your chassis

Alright, I'll take into consideration all of the above comments. Thanks for the speedy replies. The problem is that there are few if any SJ's over here at all and Mine is the only 410 that I've ever come across... So I'm changing my plans slightly. The top is still getting the chop but I'll be fabricating my own soft top from the appropriate material complete with windows. havent decided whether or not im going to do a full soft top or one sloped back from the B pillar to the tailgate. Any input?
