Pulling to the right
Pulling to the right
A week after passing it's ITV (Spanish MOT) my SJ1.3 started pulling to the right.I went to the nearest petrol station and checked the tyre pressures which were all OK after parking up for a couple of hours I drove home and the steering was back to normal, the next day it pulled to the right again and this happened a few times over the next week,so I thought sticking caliper .So I booked it into a local garage who specialises in brake problems. He checked them out and said they are OK,but thinks the problem is with the suspension. He has given me the address of a 4X4 specialist, but as their garage is a few hours away I wondered if any forum members have experienced something similar and could give me a clue what to look for.Worn bushes?Suspension part?
Re: Pulling to the right
Wheel bearing? CV joint?
Is it a constant pulling or a jerking motion as you go around corners etc?

Re: Pulling to the right
Sounds like it could be a binding CV joint if it's intermittent.
other than that just check wheel and king pin bearings for play.
As for worn bushes just look for perished rubber and excessive movement.

Re: Pulling to the right
Thanks for the info,it was intermittent and my local garage couldn't see anything obvious.Took it for an hours drive and everything was back to normal, hands off the wheel and steering straight.May have been a sticky caliper or as suggested something in the suspension. I'll need to keep an eye on it!
Re: Pulling to the right
Put it in 4wd and drive around forwards and in reverse at full lock. listen out for clicking or any grinding noises. if so it will be a CV and you'll want to get it sorted asap, if one properly fails it can lock up and send you off the roadFrenchy wrote:Thanks for the info,it was intermittent and my local garage couldn't see anything obvious.Took it for an hours drive and everything was back to normal, hands off the wheel and steering straight.May have been a sticky caliper or as suggested something in the suspension.
