Replacing horn!

Hi. The horn on my new Vitara SZ-T is pathetic so I have bought a pair of two-tone ones to replace it. I believe I have to remove the front grill to access the horn so can someone please advise how to do this?

I *think* that dual tone horns are illegal on post-1973 vehicles. I *think*. That's why I only hooked up a single horn after buying a dual airhorn setup.

If someone knows for sure, I'd like to hear - I think a dual tone horn on my SJ would be cool.

Any vehicle first registered after 1st August 1973 must not have a bell, gong, siren or two-tone horn unless it is an emergency services vehicle.

The police can and do prosecute people for this, even going as far as prosecuting a guy with a Dukes of Hazard "General Lee" recreation vehicle because it's horn did "whistling dixie". They had to drop the case in the end because it was a pre-1973 registered vehicle.

Not saying don't do it - just don't get caught doing it...

I think it's quite common to have 2 horns covering different frequency's, but these horns are to be used together at the same time (Wired in parallel).

I'd like to think your GV already has twin horns and uses a relay when powering them. If this is the case it should be a straight swap.

AS per the picture, the horns are dual tone, not two-tone, and sound together. Operating at two very close frequencies they are LOUD!
However, nobody has come up with an answer to my question - how does one access the horn space - remove the grill assembly on the Vitara SZ-T.

If you can't access the horn just disconnect the wires, mount the new horn somewhere else and reconnect the wires.

Good idea if all else fails but this is a new Vitara and would prefer to have the horn where it should be! Can't be rocket science surely!

I'm afraid there is no available information for the new Vitara. I doubt very much any of the Suzuki forums will be able to answer your question, I'm a member of a few.

You have a Suzuki dealer where you bought it and have it serviced?

Maybe pick the brains of your service guy next time you're 'booked in' or just driving past?

If you DIY, a pry set like this might come in handy for all your plastic front trim fixings.
