Brake Drum not fitting back on ( Despite adjusting screw )

Just replaced my rear wheel cylinder with a a TVS-girling from India. ( Only part I could find reasonably price-shipped to the US )

Replaced the shoes with new ones designed for a 86' Samurai. ( Only ones I could find so far, & seem to be the exact same size as my old shoes. Not 100% on the actual pad thickness though )

Still, the drum is a long ways off from fitting back on.

Drum doesn't have a lip. Self adjusting screw is set to maximum closed.

Thinking about getting the whole drum reamed out if I can't get this thing back on. Seems like if I have to do this again, a reamed drum will help fit my misfit parts.

Just don't understand why I having so much trouble in the first place.

Are the pistons fully in the cylinder?

Just looked and the new shoes are different in ways not apparent before.

Samurai shoes are more pronounced where they meet with the upper & lower wheel cylinders.

Currently doing some grinding modification.
