Does anyone know if the voltage regulator IF IT HAS ONE for the gauges which i presume is behind the speedo binacle... does it have a bearing on the fuel gauge and the temperature gauge....
i have just taken offside wheel off and waggled the lead which goes to the tank sensor tag sprayed it with wd40.did not pull it off as i would not be able to replace it .very restricted access ...but on lowering the anus it appears to be reading quite high.......
Could be i guess the variable type resistor track is worn ??? or dirty on tank sensor.....
As Redex is fairly well thought of as a cleaner perhaps some added to the tank might work its way onto the sender (I KNOW GRASPING AT STRAWS)
Just noticed i have got oil on my new shirt, rhymes with clucking bell
Where did my wife put that bottle of Brandy.......

The continuing story ......just removed most of the rear carpet and there appears to be a panel above fuel tank ..its not bolted down but looks as if there is a black bituminous compound around the outside Could this be a access panel to the fuel gauge SENDER ? should i try to prise this panel up it looks well stuck down...WERE THE JAP JEEPS MADE DIFFERENT TO THE SPANISH ONES

Do you have a picture? I've never know any SJs to have a hatch from the factory.
