These pipes are only vacuum. They need blanking off at the manifold, or just joint them together.

Best thing to do is get some more rubber pipe and wrap it around your adaptor using them two pipes as the flow and return to act as a water jacket to help reduce carb icing.
I thought the heating was done by the pipes I,ve pointed out in this diagram
All the other little pipes just need removing and blocking.
The only pipes the SU needs attachting is fuel in and the vac advance.

thanks guys this has helped! For the time being i have just stuck those two water pipes together till i can get some pipe for the heating the adaptor, and then just blanked off the vac pipes.
Next question, i have looked at loads of wiring diagrams for wiring up the alternator, and every picture posted here of sj413 alternators have a round plug, where as mine is this type of plug that i cant find anywhere...anyone using this alternator?

To the best of my knowledge the 2 large spade terminals are the battery connection and the small spade terminal goes to the light. I believe this alternator does not require a switched live (Black/white wire) to energise it as it gets a small feed via the warning lamp. I also believe the 2 large spade terminals are internally connected to the bolt + so this could be used if you already have ring terminal/s on your loom.
Sorry, I have not messed with one of these alternators so cannot guarantee this (that's why I keep bunging in "I believe"
)
Hopefully somebody can confirm this

probably best I admit this. finally got engine mounts welded in properly, modified radiator mounts, alternator all wired up, all pipes in respective places, filled everything with oil and water (where appropriate of course) started her up for a first test drive, put her in gear and nothing, no movement, checked every gear and all sorts. had it in my head that the clutch must be knackered as it was untested and already fitted to the new engine, so out came the engine again, off came the gear box and clutch plate, all looked fine, so at 11.45pm I gave up, left everything in a big pile and went home, 3 miles down the road remembered the f@#cking transfer box was in neutral. nice long evening on Friday putting everything back together again!

Someone else might have done that. That someelse may also have put clutch in backwards.

Whats even worse Jordi is that when i took the clutch plate out i even thought to myself, 'i must remember which way this goes in so i dont do what Jordi did'....!!! argh!
