Tims SJ410 Build Project

Post by Jordi » Mon May 27, 2013 10:32 pm

I'm starting this thread for Tim as we just swapped the doors over outside my house.

They are very yellow against the red. Drivers side is a bit rusty along the bottom but a damn sight better than the old doors.

He also went away with a 1300 and a 5sp gearbox for a possible future engine swap. Still missing a few bits for the complete set up bit nothing that can't be easily sourced on here.

As this is my build thread i should probably comment on it! It does look a little worse for wear but as Jordi says its pretty much solid rust wise, as in there is next to none. The doors were pretty much disintigrated, but sorted that with my new shiny ones! Windscreen frame is knackered but sorting a new one soon.

However the fun starts on sunday! If anyone is up and around scarborough way this sunday im taking my engine and gear box out to get ready to fit my new 1.3!

Progress has been a little slower than expected as it took me the best part of a decade to get my front end off! But with a polite chat and a massive hammer it played ball! Progress so far...

Getting there. At least it makes it nice and easy to get the engine out. When you put it back together use hex head bolts. It might be neccessary to drill some out completely and put a nut and bolt in.

Don't forget you have your "new" windscreen surround too!!!

i cannot wait to get that windscreen surround put on!!! gonna look so much better! i have cleared most of the holes to put new bolts all the way through, but bent one side of the front end in frustration getting it off so will all need a bit of a straighten and re spray before goin back together!

Do we know if the gearbox will go in or if the mounts need modding yet?
