Various copper wire brush drill attachments to get the thick corrosion and loose paint off.

Then roughed the whole wheel up with 100grit production paper. Smoothed it off with 400grit production paper.

Pretty much washed the wheel down with cellulose thinners to remove dust and any traces of grease.

I used bog standard simoniz white primer in a rattle can and carplan satin black top coat. To get the paint to adhere and dry better I sat the wheel over a convector heater till it was warm to touch then sprayed it with as many coats of each as you can be bothered (I did 3 coats of each)

There not perfect up close but I'm pleased with them, one of the small jobs that makes a big difference.

Also been out and collected an 8x4 sheet of steel some of it has a bit of surface rust but I'm hoping it will wire brush off. It was free so even if it's not all usable its still a bargain.

why do you mask them wheels? just get a piece of cardboard, and cut an arch in one side. then just bend it a little to make it fit perfect around your wheel, and just hold it where you are spraying, and work around. one piece of cardboard for all wheels, and just keep it somewhere, and use it again next time

Saves any potential slips, plus I had all the masking stuff to hand.

Bungs out!

Keeps it nice and airy to stop moisture build up in the cab, stops the floor rotting, let's the crap out after a deep wade.

I ain't had any of my front or rear ones in for a few years now.

I keep my rear ones in but I might just keep 1 in.each footwell tbh

Put them back in for wet weather road driving, or do as I do - throw a cheap rubber mat over them.

You don't want motorway road spray coming up into the cab and freezing your manberries off.

Well, I don't - I have no idea what you do for fun...

Started doing a bit of the gentle cosmetic work to tidy up a bit more.

Err.... We have the rot. The seams in the floor behind the seats have gone. Fairly sure the mud is holding it together.

Think it's gonna be pay n play this weekend then the body off. To say I'm gutted doesn't describe it.
