The horse box was probably plated too high. They have to be because a horse can weigh a ton plus, and horse boxes are generally built/plated for at least 2 horses - well over 2 ton - which would be illegal to tow with a vehicle with a kerb weight of less than the horse boxes plated max. 2+2 is more than 3.5, and so requires a B+E.

As I said before, it's about the MAM - max ALLOWABLE mass - being too high, not the actual weight being towed. Jordi and I have both posted links to the government's official guidance on the subject.

I can't see how you can still be arguing. You want to show us where the law says we're wrong, then I will read it.

Until then, I have to assume that the information contained in the government's official website is correct, and you aren't. Sorry.
