Have you tried quotes with your dad as registered owner and insured in his name with you as a named driver?

With most insurance firms named drivers now get NCB too.

I really don't understand how they can justify charging over 3x the amount of the vehicles value on a vehicle that you can't drive fast and will only do just over 70mph it's so ridiculous, I feel sorry for you guys, it's not like you are little boy racers or the cocks out there who are slamming their shit polo's to the point they scrape the subframes on the floor, have to remove the arb, the driveshafts are pretty much hitting the chassis, have far to much camber on the rear making the vehicle handle like crap and just generally turning their car into a death trap to 'look cool'

I don't think insurance companies understand that there are young guys like you lot out there who have taken the time to restore a vehicle that would otherwise have been scraped because your an enthusiast instead of just getting a car and driving like a knob to try and be cool :argh:
Instead they jus tar all young men with the same brush! I've never had an insurance claim in all the years Ive been driving (but yes I did once put my old golf gti into a bush  )

Well said Scottie.

When they changed the rules about boys and girls in december it knackered it for everyone.

They deem all young people a menace now. Another option is to do a pass plus course. Brought my missus insurance down when she first passed.

:hahaha:
You just just described the polo he has bought because it was half the price of the sammy insurance to put on the road, including buying the car! As you've said, he can now do over a ton in a sledge, rather than 50-60 in something with all the tread on the road. As for the garage thing, when i was on the phone to elephant insuring my 206 it was going to be £150 cheaper to keep it in a residential car park, than it was to keep it in a locked garage :er: Putting the mother on as a named driver also knocked £1000 off.

I have a friend in the navy that was going to have to pay £80 more on his insurance if he bought a blue astra, rather than a silver one! "It's more likely to get stolen in blue".......... you tell me! :S

Can you guys tell it annoys me! :hahaha: Ricky you got it in one! It really has no logic!!!

The worst thing is I bet none of these kids with their slammed cars have any of the mods declared on the insurance and most of them jack the cars back up for the MOT so that they don't fail (because they would!)

Yeah from what I read it was supposed to bring women's insurance up slightly but also lower men's, looks like most insurance companies have just used it as an excuse to bump insurance up for all you g drivers :pissed:

Phone around as many insurers as you can and explain how you have restored it and are in an owners club you never know they might go and have a chat to their manager and see if they can knock it down a bit, online comparison sites just put you through as the average young male. If it was me I'd literally take the whole day phoning around as many different companies and may e a few brokers as well.
