Is there really any kind of load on them so that you need to worry about shaft diameter? £45 is "zook" money, £185 is... Not so much...

I used to run a 1300 16v myself, and used a thermostat housing outlet from an LHD GTI (part was from the states)

Shame you weren’t happy with the Mazda cap, I moved my engine and box mount forwards, only around 15mm, which gave me the clearance needed.

I didn't really think there was any load on them so I wasn't to worried. I have so many bits and pieces to buy for it so I love it when there's cheap bits!

I took my thermostat housing into my friendly local engineers and got them to cut, turn and weld it. It's left it quite small to get the hose on but I think it should be fine.

As for the dizzy cap I did look at moving engine forward but it still looked tight. Your engine looks like mk 2 or 3, mines a mk 1. I know the internals of the mk 2 dizzy's are a bit different so maybe the Mazda caps fit better? It certainly wasn't a great fit on mine

Time for a few more pics. Got the yj's in. I tried to be clever and get my front clip painted while I was away at Xmas but hadn't started the springs. I found I hadnt cut enough out of the front wings when axle flexes just below the headlight so I've had to hit them with the welder again I've also discovered the the textured blue hammerite paint is a bloody good match to Worcester blue Suzuki paint! Well at least close enough for wheel arches and under body. Few little things to finish on the yj brackets then all off to paint. The axle housings might get a tidy up while I'm there too, keep finding jobs that aren't on my list and taking extra time!
Also cut the old shock towers off and welded some extra length and strength then welded back on to the chassis.

One thing I've found and not sure if others out there with yj's have the same but there is huge movement in the spring hanger bushes, they are new bushes and bolts are only just nipped up but I was surprised how much movement was in the bushes. Is there a better brand bush to use? I've made the mounts to take Suzuki bushes. Maybe that's the problem?

Yes. Guilty! I looked at a few different conversions and really liked your design on the front and particularly like how it can all unbolt.

Finally feels like it's taking shape now! Decided to wax oil it yesterday while it is still clean underneath. my Subaru road car died a while ago so been using it for the odd part but best of all the seats. Spent some time mounting them to the Suzuki runners. They don't look to out of place in there and are super comfy, just need a clean. I found a little more rubbing from front tyres when bump stop compress's and under full steering lock. Think I'm going to have to fit wheel spacers, didn't want to but don't want to reduce any steering lock also need to space bump stops a bit before the shocks become the bump stops! Still I'm pretty happy with everything, lots of little jobs to go now but can't wait to try it out properly!
