How do you get the oil in the diffs?
How do you get the oil in the diffs?
I am following the guide on this site on how to change the oil in the diffs and I am stuck on the front axle. The fill-plug is as stuck as they come so I'm trying to get the oil into one of the bolt-holes who holds the diff-housing to the axle. Is it possible to do without having to remove the axle?
The hole is so tiny.

Those holes will allow oil into the diff, eventually, but it will be a very slow job as you rightly say.
A slightly extreme way of slackening is with a chisel.

You could pop off the breather cap and pour it in that way

Got it done It's sub zero degrees out and I was laying in the semi-frozen mud holding a hose and the girlfriend was pouring. She is NOT happy atm. Well, well

Get a nice long breaker bar on the film plug, should soon come undone

Re: How do you get the oil in the diffs?
I put oil in mine through the correct hole, and that's difficult enough. Ended up getting loads of it on my jacket, which even after going through the washing machine 4 times, still stank too much of gear oil to wear.
God I hate that smell.
Next time I'm going to pour it in through the diff breather until it comes out of the fill hole.

You can use a massive syringe, a mate has one.
If it ticks over...leave it
