At the moment iv got 15". As I'd be doing mostly green lanes I don't want to be spending to much on tyres

That's the wheel size how big do you want the tyres? 235/75r15 (29") / 30" / 31"?Josh-holden wrote:At the moment iv got 15". As I'd be doing mostly green lanes I don't want to be spending to much on tyres
If you are mostly laning the 29/30" should be fine and you don't need much lift to run those, I have 235/75r15s on an Sj with no lift, just a bit of trimming and simple tweaks to the front bumper mounts.

I have landcruiser props on mine, massive wide angle Ujs and there very strong, much more so than an sj prop.
I had to use them as mine on full drop with both missing links open the prop is at a ridiculous angle. And it still works.

Interesting. I bet they don't just bolt on. What mods are needed to use Landcruiser ones?
If it ticks over...leave it

Cut out the arches so you have more room for bigger tyres. Not a hard job to do.

How come people dont just do a body lift?

Virtual lift much easier and you retain most of the original looks of the car. A body lift is a pain in the arse on old Suzuki's, for many reasons. First you need a good kit, polyurethane ones are the best and not cheap. Then you have all the seized and rusted in bolts that you'll have to cut/drill out. Takes bloody ages. Then you have to physically lift the body up, not a one man job, put the lift kit in. Maybe add longer brake lines, weld added lengths to gear sticks. What fun. Of course when that is done you have a higher zook which means your handling is VERY compromised. So wider wheels or spacers etc. A lot of time and money is needed.
Virtual lift. Mr Angry and maybe a day if you are cack handed and job done.

As above.
And the arches probably need repairing anyway, so just do a virtual lift.
Sorted two jobs in one.

I don't really like body lifts, they reduce the number of contact points between the body and chassis giving it less Suport and increase the stresses on the body mounts. In a bad roll over this could make it more likely for the body to seperate from the chassis.
Especially dodgy box section body lifts, I have seen them after a roll over turned turned into a parrallegogram shape
