dose'nt want to turn

Post by mk1joe » Sat Apr 03, 2010 5:57 pm

Hi
ive been trying for a while to get my car started using lots of different battries and even jumping it from another car but the starter is just not moving it fast enough. i have taken the starter out and it turns fine from a battery but the gear dosent move foreward although it dose engage when its on the engine.
any ideas?
thanks
joe

Oil on a gear can't really be a bad thing as far as a gear is concerned, as it lubricates it, but, being a gear, it won't loose traction, if you know what I mean, like a belt or tyre would. However, the starter usually turns the flywheel, and the flywheel is usually connected to the clutch, which means there may be oil around the clutch, which is not so good, as I understand it.

The question to ask is, where did the oil come from? Gearbox or Engine?

Sorry I can't be of any more help.

Where did the oil come from?

Sniff it!!

Not that it makes much difference, if its from engine it'll be gearbox off, if its from gearbox it'll be gearbox off.
They call me the Goldfish..........I don't remember why!
