Re: vitara sort out
Thats starting to look very nice,i bet you will need a bigger engine to drag all that extra metal around that you have welded in

Re: vitara sort out
haha just wait till ive done my bumper (mostly angle iron ) although I do wonder about the engine power I know its only a 1.6 but considering they seem to be constructed from biscuit tins it does seem rather sluggish is this normal?
Re: vitara sort out
did some work on the small chassis holes today there is one on the other side to but the wind was interfering with my welding!
not quite sure what to do about the hole at the front of the arch for now im just gonna leave it not sure whether to just rivet a patch over the hole or try welding something in? but of a sod of a shape!
started on my bumper think its going to take some thinking got an idea in my head just need to get it into metal
Re: vitara sort out
bit more bumper work
bit windy again today so tacked it up with my arc then welded it up with the mig (only 2 rods left for arc) in my coal shed
this is what im working towards seen here lovingly crafted in cardboard and ductape

Re: vitara sort out
I like that! I'm going to redo my front bumper eventually, and I'll probably do something similar, tapering down to a skid plate. Maybe.

Re: vitara sort out
well not had a chance to do any more welding but added my trade mark stickers haha
one thing you will notice here is where the previous owner has painted over the high level brake light presumably to pass an MOT
I took the unit out with the view to replacing it, eh yeah right! oh how silly I was to think you could find one of these so I took the unit to bits and found out why only 4 LEDs were illuminating
I cleaned the paint off the lens and as you can see also managed to break it into three bits while taking it apart
ordered me one of these, 24cm LED strip
now unfortunately I managed to loose one of the bits I broke off at the mounting so decide I might manage to make something up with this
fortunately and completely by chance when I went out to go to the shop for some superglue there was the offending article sitting beside my path (I had looked for it for three days!!)
so there we go lens back together, LEDs installed, unit glued back together and she's sorted

Re: vitara sort out
I want a high level brake light like that for my SJ...
Maybe I should make one like you have.

Re: vitara sort out
wishbones finally on who thought it would be a great design to have to remove the drive shaft to get ball joint in?? , got my new shiny track rods to go in now
Re: vitara sort out
Those wishbones are quite rotten, I did find that the standard wishbones were always full of mud.
