SU Conversion

Post by Desperate_Dan » Sun Feb 14, 2010 12:38 pm

Many thanks for all the earlier contributions on converting to an SU. Job nearly finished. It probably needs a different needle but I haven't road tested yet. Pancake type air filter is made from non stick cake tins!

I've got some microbore copper tubing which will plumb into the surplus water pipes, when I've figured out howto coil it tight enough. I think you have to fill it with water or oil before bending.
I just bought a filter to fit the cake tins. 18cms I think.

One thing I've noticed is that the engine picks up revs when you brake and release . I guess it's because of the drop in pressure from the manifold.

ahh thats alright then! im not sure on how to bend brake line tube.

the engine rpm should drop a little bit but in no way should it struggle down to a few rpms when the pedal is pushed down.. if when youre driving along and you stamp the brakes the engine shouldnt die! if it does you have a leak in the vacum pipe.
