Hi, I am Tom from Hampshire!!

Post by chapperstom » Wed Feb 10, 2010 12:13 am

Hi guys, I am new to this site but not to my Suzuki SJs, I think I am on my 5 SJ and had several Vitaras! I have almost finished my project SJ Santana, it consists of 3" lift shackles, Samurai springs, Z steering bar, 1.6 Vitara lump through a 413 gearbox and a 410 transfer box. Fuel tank is in the boot, I have converted it into a truck adding Bucket seats and an external roll cage, heavy duty rear bumper and a front winch bumper. Just about to bolt on a light bar and go insure and tax it!!

welcome to the forum matey, nice zuki!

One thing though i would suggest ditching those shackles, fitting standard ones and lifting it with a body lift or lift springs as those shackles will make the road manners dangerous, reduce your approach angle, get stuck on the middle of ruts and destroy your springs

The bonnet bulge was not something I wanted to have but the Vitara engine sits against the bonnet so I had to create more space, i didnt want to do a body lift as I didnt want to butcher the transmission tunnel as I have had to in the past.

I havent driven it yet but I need the lift as the Shocks I have brought wont work standard height, so it has a SPOA and 3" shackles, I know what you mean about the handling suffering but its a tempory fix until I get round to doing a Coil Spring conversation, but thats a while away!

Yes I am on the look out for a new set of tyres to fill the arches a little in total I measure the chassis to the ground and the lift is approx 140mm!!! not ideal I know, but until I have more funds to spend on it this is how it will stay.

Thanks all
Tom

I am particularly happy with this bar, looks posh and spent that little extra time making all the cabling tidy :) With weather on my side I hope to have the truck on the road in 2 weeks :)
