Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this one??!
I have a Suzuki Samurai.
Ok, I have a very feint battery light on in the dark, the fuel gauge goes down with the lights on, when I press the brake the fuel gauge goes down completely, the indicators make it go up and down and the best one is when the fog light switch is on and I press the brake the indicators don't work at all. The lights at the rear are going dim and bright when on together too. It has had a new alternator too.
What and where should I be looking? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance

Re: Bad light earth???
Hi and welcome to the forum... sounds like you might have a couple of issues!
You definitely have a problem with one of the earths for the rear lights... we call it disco lights haha
I would check the side with the foglight first and see what happens.
The earth should be screwed under the tailgate at the back
if its a Spanish samurai it will have a shared earth bar at the back of the lights, basically a metal strip that attaches all the bulb holders together... make sure this isnt too badly corroded and make any repairs as necessary!
i would use a length of wire and connect the earth for the light clusters directly to the battery negative terminal, and see if it gets any better
As far as I can remember the fuel tank level sensor also is earthed at the back to this could be part of the problem as well

Re: Bad light earth???
Many thanks
It does have the bar at the back so I will try connecting it straight to the battery, need it to get through the MOT!! The fuel gauge not so pressing but I will see if I can find that too
Thanks again. Will let you know how I get on!!

Re: Bad light earth???
Don't leave it connected to the battery for the MOT, if it works, drill a new better earth for it
