snapped.

Post by 285cupramatty » Mon Mar 10, 2014 12:21 pm

Afternoon everyone

I managed to get my self some bf goodridge mt tyres the other day and ordered a 3" lift kit. So I fitted it all Saturday ready for a day out laning on Sunday. Well it didn't last to long as 2 minutes into our first lane I went in some bog and tried going over what felt like a mountain and BANG front passengers shaft snapped.

One of the fellas I was out with said that I need to either space the diff down or put spacers on the driver shafts.

Can someone she's some light on this as im not to clued up on these cars yet.

Many thanks
Matt.

hi
its common on vitaras for the front cv`s and even the aluminium front diff to shatter if they are put under too much stress after they have been lifted.
depending on how much you want to modify it you can put a suzuki samurai front axle on it with your diff internals in,but that would be a big job.
or you can get the diff drop mounts and driveshaft spacer from here:
bits4vits.co.uk

you can get away without doing anything if you adjust your driving to suit, you need to be aware of the weakness and adjust driving accordingly.
it took me 1 hour to shatter my first cv at korc on 28" tyres, then the next time i went i was there all day with no problems on 32" tyres.

Im not sure how needed those bits are but i imagine the standard ones will eventually wear out

You do want a rear axle spacer really if you haven't got one
