I´ve seen a few images of some of the samurais on the forum and they all seem to have no back seats....they some how seem shorter.....Remember Im new!haha....anyway The one Ive bought has back seats.....a soft top and it says Suzuki samurai!hahah
Is there a few different models?

Not really! Yours might be a Lwb version which is just a little longer, lwbs only came as soft tops, if you post a pic we can tell you better.
The x3 main options are
SJ 410 - 1litre engine and vertical slat grill, metal dash or circular plastic dash
SJ 413 - 1.3 litre engine horizontal plastic grill, circular plastic dash
Samurai - 1.3 litre engine horizontal plastic grill, different dash board wider axles, hand brake on rear brakes, late models have injection

Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

This is my SWB samurai soft top, the rear seats are the proper ones (but recovered) and the fronts are suzuki swift ones, I imagine yours will be similar?
Re: Bought a very old Suzuki Samurai - In need of some help!
Yes!! Just that yours looks way better!!!
My seats are all broken up and can't move front seats to get into the back, people have to jump in from the back......Can you remove the soft top and put it back on?? In mine I don't think you can.......you can only lift up the back part of the soft top...roll it up...
Anyway, Ill try and get some images by next week.....again its nothing great...I just hope it keeps running for the next year!

That was an old photo, it's different now, and a little shabbier! Yeah the soft top should come off, it's only connected by poppers around the rear tub, a few Velcro ties and a fastening strip over the bonnet,
Don't worry we have really bad suzuki rot boxes here in the uk so it won't be that bad, and I like to see sj's in all walks of life! It's probably the runners on the passenger seat that are broken, the drivers seat doesn't come forward (it only adjusts on it's runners for the driving position, whereas the passenger seat should come forward a lot further then fold, it's to encourage passengers to get in the car from the pavement side (assuming your pulled up at the side of a road)

Re: Bought a very old Suzuki Samurai - In need of some help!
Brought it home today! Got this feeling where I wasn't sure if it was good or bad!! Anyways, as Ive said I live on a tropical Island very far far away from any where.....(not portugal by the way...much further!) Situation here is cars are very expensive due to 125 percent import tax and even old, very old cars are quite expensive.
Ive bought it off someone I know who is leaving.....its crap, doesnt drive to well but at least it runs...and for here thats good enough...I dont know how long it will last but hopefully it will keep running until my contract is up!
I promised I´d share some pics...Its very dirty but here they are:
As I said....steering is sloppy......been told its steering box...if needed could I buy one from uk and get it shipped to uk address?

Ah, it looks pretty tidy considering I thought it would be crap, one things for certain, it didn't come from England with that grill, as they stopped selling them here in 1995 and the grill is a later one, (I've seen grills like that in Spain & Greece), what makes it odd ball is that it's a right hand drive and later than 95' - ( because its a facelift model you have the revised dashboard too that wasn't available in the uk)
Do you know what engine it is? Unless you know for certain there's a chance it could be the 1.9 diesel! I'm sure someone on here will sort you out with a steering box, but I would try adjusting it yourself before spending money on replacing it! If no one gets back to you I have a box I can sell you but I'm moving house shortly and my life is in boxes, it will take me a few weeks to get everything sorted out
