Ha ha, have you seen the devastation a smashed up caravan causes in summer rush hour? A 650 kg caravan will probably bully an SJ like 3t can bully a land rover.Henry wrote:Jordi wrote:I can beat that. Span out on one of the banks coming out of Pembroke in the wagon with 54t on the back.Henry wrote:I have never used one but just a thought.
I've had a landy 90 slide and jack up on a wet corner with 3.5 tonne on the back officer
Luckily it didn't all end it tears
So what's the worse that could happen with 650kg

Well my mum and dad will be going aswel, so my dad said if I have any problems just pull over somewhere and he'll come and get the caravan and tow it there and I then drive the zuk on it's own, so I should be alright, Henry, why didn't I know you were so close already? Haha I see a little suzuki meet coming along?

You can only give it a whirl and see how it goes.

I would defo put a 1.6 in urs before u tow it as I have towed my mates Sj a couple of times as his carb kept on playing up lol and it was alright but it did struggle a bit lol and the His Sj is about a ton I had had to drive my cousins Sj 413 the other day it has 29" and I had to tow a grand vitara not sure how much the weigh but it struggled a bit wouldn't want to go to far doing that only had to do a lout 3 miles I that and that was enough

Yep I'll give it a try and see how it goes, if any problems I'll try and get some money saved up and buy a 413 and use the axles and gearbox etc, even if I run the 1.3 out of it at least it'll be easy to do the 1.6 when I can get one...

Sadly I don't have the sj anymore, but I do have a jimny amongst other 4x4s (shhhhhh dark side alert)
Do you do much 4x4 down my way! There are loads of good sites in and around Wrexham
Re: Any advice for towing a small caravan with my SJ410?
Only really Wigan and mouldsworth, I've seen rawhide 4x4 seem to go to north wales a lot so I've thought about tagging along with some of them, they all own them 4x4's that can not be named from the dark side...

Dont go with the 1.3 if you're planning on going 1.6, with all the hassle of cutting out and re welding new engine mounts i would hang fire till you have everything and just go straight to 1.6 personally, or at least thats what i wish i did with mine.Jay18 wrote:Yep I'll give it a try and see how it goes, if any problems I'll try and get some money saved up and buy a 413 and use the axles and gearbox etc, even if I run the 1.3 out of it at least it'll be easy to do the 1.6 when I can get one...

Why don't you just give it a go and see how you get on? My Sammy wasn't a very good tow-er but my friend used a towing dolly with his 410, when he bought a car for his missus he towed it 60odd miles home and said it towed reasonably well
Re: Any advice for towing a small caravan with my SJ410?
Also why buy a whole Sj to rape for a 1.3/1.6??? Just buy all the parts you need instead of sending another Sj off to the scrapyard?
