Yes, I don't know why I thought it was a G10BB, I think that must have been the Swift, I've got a couple of ECUs here and they both say F10D on them. I reckon that would be a good engine in a 410 and I've got a 410 based Blitz that needs a new engine - subscribed.

From the pics I have seen the block looks identical.

I really want to do this swap in Karis's SJ now but the price of a complete donor alto is surprisingly high still :shock: might keep my eyes out for a crashed one for a good price.

Engine prices aren't too bad though :thumbup:

I'm thinking it's the cheap road tax that is keeping the price high, they are only in tax band C so £30 a year :shock: I wonder if you could persuade the DVLA to lower the tax band of the SJ with one of these engines fitted? Very much doubt it because of the vehicle age but that would be awesome!

This one I was watching went for £190 which I would have been prepared to pay. As it looks pretty likely that the blocks will bolt up the same way I think I am going to be looking out for an Alto to break soon, even if it turns out that they are not compatiable I would still most likely not lose any money by breaking one.

So who will the first person to fit an F10D in place of an F10A lol? I shall be rebuilding my SC100 over this winter once I have cleared enough space in the garage to fit it in & that seems like it would be an ideal time to do an engine swap :P

okay so here is a F10D engine from the gearbox end, if i can find a picture of the f10D at this same view it could be possible to get a view of the shape and the mount placings so we can see if it might fit...

I assume by that you mean can't be done easily? Because people have fitted American V8's into SJ's. ANY relatively compact engine is possible, it's just how much work you're prepared to do...

I'd be looking at the K10a too, as the F10d is a 1.1 litre. The shift from 1.0 to 1.3 caused you problems with your insurance, the shift from 1.0 to 1.1 might be just as bad. Insurance companies aren't smart about mods - putting in a bigger engine gets you spanked. They often don't bother to find out *how much* bigger, they simply assume that if you went to the trouble of swapping your engine, you must've fitted something massive and overpowered, and therefore you're the kind of person who causes accidents.

My brake "upgrades" (brake discs on the rear) increased my insurance premium. They're not a performance upgrade - the brakes are exactly as effective as they've always been, they just won't fill up with mud anymore.

They don't take that into account, so if I'd fitted twin pot racing calipers that can stop me faster than hitting a wall, the increase in premium would be exactly the same. So assume that a bigger engine is going to cost more, whether it's 7% bigger (10% on paper) like the F10d, or 100% bigger by fitting a J20 like Scottie.

The K10a is *marginally* smaller than the F10d, and is officially classed as a 1.0 - but has similar power outputs. Pretty sure it puts out about the same HP/Torque as my G13.

The K10b is similar, but it's only a 3 cylinder.

They're all fuel injected engines, though. So no matter how you look at it, that's a lot of wiring and a lot of work.

If you want a pic of a sj 1.0 engine like the pic above I can do tmoz as I have a spare 1.0 engine in the shed with a knackered water pump which I will rebuild and put in my sj one day lol

I was looking at converting my 410 to single point injection using a throttle body of some sort and bolting it to the 410 inlet manifold, I found Nissan mixes throttle bodies for about £40 and you can but a injection spi throttle body for a mini which in theory should bolt up to the 410 injury with little modification as the mini SU carb does...

The main thing with doing the research into the f10D is just to see if it is possible, I might convert the 410 engine to injection or I might just drop a 1.6 in and done with it, thing is ice got a spare 410 inlet thanks to Scottie so I could try getting a throttle body with injector to bolt to it

I'm watching this, the F10D system is quite a good setup. If you do go ahead then I could get some data for you from the Suzuki Service Portal. A few years ago I started machining up a throttle body for my 410 but it got waylaid by other projects.
