Does anyone else's steering wander on straight roads?

Post by Jay18 » Thu Nov 21, 2013 12:54 pm

My zuk usually wanders when holding the steering wheel still and straight, it's as if something is lose in the steering but I can't find any play i got use to it with the old tyres on but it seems to be worse with the 31's

Any suggestions?

Haha so it's completely normal? If it is then that's fine I'll get used to it again, just want to make sure there's nothing wrong with it really, would doing a shackle reversal help?

I don't think I have ever driven an SJ that doesn't wander a little bit or suffer from some bump steer, it's never going to handle like a car.

Power steering helps when you run bigger tyres.

Shackle reversal wont help, others will dissagree but in my opinion it's one of the worst things to do on such a short wheel base vehicle, plus you loose tyre clearance as the compressed wheel moves towards the bulkhead instead of away from it like it does with shackles up front.

They also climb better with the shackles up front where they are supposed to be!

Well that puts my mind at ease then lol, think it would take most of the f10a power to run the power steering pump lol, I'm thinking of putting a swift g13ba engine in the zuk and doing power steering to go with it...
