my little sj has been bodged to hell and back by the last owner he has put a vit engine in and changed the wiring look so he has took out the speedo, rev counter ect and bodged a vitara unit in :bawling: i was wondering how easy it would be to put the sj unit back in and connect up so everything works

It depends why and how they have put the vit dash in... standard rev counter, speedo, fuel gauge and temp gauge should all work properly with an 8v carb vit engine

With the vit engine has it got fuel injection? I know Mike harris ended up with a vitty clock unit cos the sj one doesn't work with the vit wiring

There should either by 3 or 4 (definitely 2 on the right hand side, either 1 or 2 on the left side) black square-ish plugs behind the dash... if you still have those it will make life a bit easier!

is a 16v thats why then i suppose looks like i will have to fabricate a housing/frame type thingy lol

Yes you can get the 16v to work with the original clocks but for the best results you ideally need to fit the VSS unit from the 16v clocks (some fit straight in) and you'll want to add a check engine light.

Also there's a certain way the tacho needs to be wired up to work but I can't remember what it is of the top of my head.

Mike hasn't hooked up a vss on his as it's offroad only.
