dude whith the exh bolts there is an awesome spray that comma do. it freezes the metal and expands it so the joint cracks and makes it easier to undo. ill try and find the name tomorrow. awesome stufff!

another tip is to take your head into the local engine rebuilders, and get them to skim it for you. it's not expensive, and gives you a true and clean surface to work on. if you do this, just make sure to either remove the valves, or back them off, before you drop it off to get skimmed

infact the engineer that does the work could more than likely lap the valves in too bud

I don't think I'd ever take mine to a garage for an engine rebuild... theres just nobody around here I would trust with it!!!

skimming the head is quite specialised, so I would get that done, but I would lap the valves etc myself, even if there is a reputable garage around

Okay well if I can get another head to do the work to then when the spare had is overhauled I can just swap them round on the car, that's if anyone has a f10a head for sale???

I'll get it skimmed and do the rest myself, then I know it's been done properly instead of relying on someone doing it for me if they even do it right..

Something to be aware of - and I confess this is from memory because I don't have my 410 anymore so I can't really describe this in detail, is the fitment of the two tubes in the head which squirt oil on to the rockers and cam lobes. They will fit back in to position in the wrong way - this means that the lubrication of the valve gear will be compromised and the engine oil pressure will be reduced. Just be on the ball in observing this point.

I think this is the little hole in the block and the head that have to line up. I got my headgasket, and the marked top was actually the bottom, as the oil feed hole didn't align! just do watch this

Scotchbrite and coca-cola is brilliant for removing carbon. U might have to soak the head in coke for a while, but at least smart price stuff costs pennies.
