vw golf mk2.

Post by i_am_me » Wed Sep 25, 2013 6:30 pm

only just found this section and thought may aswell show you what other vehicles i have.
im going to miss out a lot of detail in this thread as it would be way too long.
1990 1.6 driver bought for the bargain price of £300
pictures of it as it was when i bought it.

very shortly afterwards the coiloves were bought and fitted in the snow

i have finally got my new wheels on,just need to alter the arches tomorrow to compensate for the lower off set.

GTI conversion !!!!

conversion took 6 days in total, including swapping all the brakes and brake lines.rewiring the whole car and swapping the engine.

polybushed and welded wishbones and painted the calipers, aswell as a few other bits.
fixed the brake bias so now my back wheels dont lock up straight away.
also made a solid front engine mount, car feels loads nicer to drive.

time for an update
new bigger injectors with a better spray pattern.
Image
also got carried away with the rattle cans
Image

Image

just bought a new set of wheels.
ultralites 13x7 et7 165/55/13 nankang tyres
Image
Image
Image

also after lifting it 20mm since the tyres are lower profile we took it for a drive and agreed that it is still too low

another update.
first off it is now running a kent gs22h camshaft with new tappets which has increased the power a bit although has moved the power further up the rev range
Image
Image
also i have fitted an air cooled oil cooler with a billet alloy sandwich plate and braided hoses.
Image
Image

not too much has been happening but it now has a much wider stance with thanks to some hubcentric spacers
Image
Image
Image
Image
also have refitted the bucket seats with some new subframes

another update
been busy with the fiberglass today

custom made adjustable splitter 8)

i have left loads of stuff out as it was just too long to copy the full build thread
but this and my other posts should explain the slow progress on the sj-mini project

Erm.... Pug? Are you reading the same thread as me?

Tidy build bud. Just one question, why not start with a GTi?

Nice! Mk2s do look awesome on minilights.

I really miss my old mk2 gti :bawling: still annoyed that I wrecked it! Was such a nice car until it entered a bush at quite a pace! was never the same after I rebuilt it so it ended up being sold to a breaker :bawling:

i do enjoy driving it but its been off the road since ive had the vitara.
i may have forgot a couple of bits in the thread.
its got a kent gs22h camshaft, bigger injectors,4-1 manifold, custom made duel side exit exhausts, pipercross induction kit with a homemade cold air intake, cold fusion nitrous kit, homemade short shift kit, drilled and grooved brembo discs and redstuff pad and a short ratio gearbox.

im planning on either turboing the gti engine or dropping a 1.8t engine into it,i havent decided yet
