oil light lit after 1.6 conversion

hi guys
just put a 1.6 lump in my sj
done the sump mod couldnt get the solder to take so i spot welded and grinded back
thers plenty of oil its just over the full mark..could that cours it??too much oil?
light goes out after 1500revs
or could ther be a prob with pick up?

Don't run it until you have found the problem, it will cause damage to your engine.

Is there any chance you have any leaks in the modded pick up pipe?

the pipe would be ok but not sure about the sleeve at the joint i only dabd it with weld didnt go all the way around thoght the rubber seal would seal it?

I would pull it out and fully weld it to be sure, any slight leak and you will loose pressure.

You could try your old oil pressure switch if its just a bad switch but If the oil light is on the pressure is very very low, the light will come on at such a low pressure that your engine will already start to get damaged if left running.

Yeah the light is more a "stop now!" Than a warning. I would totally weld the pickup. Well.. I have.

You did connect the wire up to the oil pressure switch when you did the conversion didnt you just a thought

Sorry just re read the op and you say it goes out after 1500rpm so you must of connected it up must be losing pressure through the pick up pipe any holes in this will allow the oil pump to short circuit and draw air from the top of the sump with a bit of oil from the strainer

just finished sorting it naw
wer the pickup joins the engine it didnt seem that tight of a fitt so i used plumbers tape around the o'ring and problem solved happy days :)
