New to the site.

Post by Blitzkrieg » Mon Jul 14, 2008 12:32 am

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site and not a resident of the UK but I do own a 1983 SJ410 which I am currently restoring. I live in Ontario, Canada and theres no SJ club for us Canadians.

So far I have removed the body and I've given the frame a thourough cleaning followed by a healthy amount of asphalt undercoating. I gave it a new clutch last year and a brand new carb sent straight from australia. The mechanical fuel pump died on it so I installed an in tank electric one with all new fuel lines as well. Now I'm on to the body, I got a good size amount of 20 guage sheet steel for body repairs and I'm currently cutting rust and replacing it with fresh metal.

Anyways, thats what I've done so far and here's what I have planned:
- Reupholster seats
- Interior roll cage
- find a soft top and chop the roof to fit it (I have a solid hard top currently)
- make custom bumpers from steel tubing
- possible 2" body lift (wanna keep things simple for now)
- New tires

Thats all I can think of for now, if anyone has any sugestions for mods that can be installed easily and cheap please feel free to inform me. I'll get some pics posted of the project as soon as I take them.
