I can get 38mpg with out FWH.
You don't need FWH, a driving licence and an MOTd Zuk might be useful first.
I give up though

Didn't realise he hadn't offloaded his current machines - I assumed he was down to one SJ!Jordi wrote:Leave it where it is. You've picked one to do now.
You haven't got the time, money or expeience to take on another quick do-er up project.
Shop about for the bits you need for the current project
Silly thing to do, that - assume. The old saying - Ass U Me...
Don't start stripping decent SJ's for bits. Just don't. DON'T do it! If it's really *that* cheap, buy it, sell it to someone on here who wants a car that won't take much to do up (swapping G series engines is a piece of cake) and use the money to get the parts you want.OllieSJ wrote:Im just always on the look out for a quick quid and this could be it ! Or buy it, knick an engine (or engine and gearbox if it's a 1.3) out of one of your other SJ's, and sell everything else.
Or buy an engine, pay someone local to do the engine swap for you, and ebay it off. A mechanic up the road from me swapped out my brother-in-law's gearbox for under £100, you can get a G10 for about that too if you look hard - if it's as tidy as you say it is, and as cheap as you say it is, you could get anything up to a grand or more for that on ebay.
But don't, whatever you do, start knicking bits off a decent SJ. For a start, it doesn't make financial sense. Second, you'll p*** off people on here. Third, JUST DON'T. It's perverse. It's like finding a beautiful, rich, adventurous woman who thinks the sun rises because of you, and going out with her once just for a free meal.
Seal the deal or let someone else have a crack at 'er.

Ah, ok - when you said "other bits I need" I thought you meant you were going to strip electricals out of it - you did mention you needed some. I had visions of a running (if poorlysick) SJ going on ebay in a non-running condition - which usually results in it being savaged for parts and then weighed in.
If you can help it, leave it with either freewheeling hubs, or at least some flanges. That way it's still road legal and "complete".

Just buy what you need for the one you have Ollie, seriously you ask for advice and then just ignore it anyway. I dont want to be an arsehole but we are all getting a bit tired of it!
Just use the £250 to buy the wing and some freewheeling hubs and fix the SJ that you already have. Then you have £100 left over to buy some other stuff for it

i could of bought a sj410 convertable of a mate with a good 1.6 in it and a good set of wheels on it for 300 quid but i decided if i did get it.
it will only be sat on my drive doing nothing
its best to get a good sj than loads of crap sjs
