Post by ferris » Mon Aug 31, 2009 7:51 pm

Just thought id put up a couple of pics from my outing today. Im still a novice and my sj is still pretty standard so spent most of my time completely stuck. lmao. Learnt alot though mainly that i need to get some proper recovery gear, all i had with me was a standard jack and a tiny spade.

Yeah its a byway  Its called Grandmother's rocks, its in a village called Wick just outside Bristol near Bath. Its pretty good down there for a local place, but my standard sj just didnt have enough clearance for alot of it. I got stuck on that tree trunk for about half an hour

Its not very long but there is a small woodland in the middle that you can drive around. Its worth a look if your local.

The best way to get there is to come down the A420, down togg hill, as you get into Wick just past the texeco garage on the right there is a turning on the left that go's to Bath (DONT TAKE THAT TURNING) but take the next left turn after that up a country lane for about half a mile, and just passed Wick sports ground on the left there is a lane, and thats the place.

Hope that makes sense.

Its fine mate. Its marked on the ordnance survey map as a "road used as a public path" It has been a well known 4x4 site for as long as i can remember, and i lived in Wick for over 20 years.......unfortunately. lol
