Post by maxlee » Thu May 02, 2013 7:05 am

Short Story how i ended up owning turf:
Went to pay & play day in disco, all most rolled disco, 1sth thought as it went over was
"how am i going to get this home" so then on face book turf pops up for sale local ish so went and got it dragger it back and here we are

Its called turf as it did have its own grass till some one pulled it out!!!!

been doing some work on turf to get it ready for pay & Play day Sunday
been thinking i must do a build topic on SCU

so here is the start

so far i have replaced transfer box mounts as they all snapped and one snapper rear spring

the list left to do it

Finish viscus fan delete and fit lecy fan
wire up wipers / washers
change all oils
finish off brake light
change tie rod (new one in post)
do axial breathers
fit winch cable to winch

The list is a little longer but thats most of it

Fare play matey! i take it its off road only? :)

i still think it should be a national rule that at pay and play sites even the off road vehicles should have atleast a brake light and a working horn the amounts of times ive seen people come close to bumping each other is worrying!

not sure if its a rule on the site i'm going to about the brake light but thought for the 30 mins it takes well worth it also sorting the wippers is a must i think

Everyone likes an SJ off-road..... and on-road!

The only thing about it thats not liked is when its in pieces on the kitchen table :D

kitchen rebuilds for the win!

got brake/flood light fitted today and cleaned the back and cab out glad i did i'll show why with pics tomorrow. rads all in fan is in it pulls the air through the rad tho :( should be ok as will emty thew bay of hot air and pull cold in i'm thinking?

tomorrow starting at 7am when misses goes to work going to get the switchs wired up and fan mount finished then test drive to see if it moves not to sure on back axil as i couldn't line the pin up on the spring  also bout new box/diff oil for it

Not sure about your fan set up. The fan should be on the engine side of the rad and pull air through or (for Robbie) on the grill side of the rad and suck in overs forcing air through the rad.

If thats how its fitted its all good.

If its fitted so it pulls air from the engine bay out of the grill its bad. It'll just suck hot air from the engine through the rad and won't cool as efficiently. Also when you're driving along it will be working against the natural flow of air.

Jordi I use a pug fan, which sits in front of the rad and forces air in. Works a treat
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good
