Re: justaddmud's kja build (code named MK5)
Why thank you Mr Edwards
it want win any beauty contests but at least i will go (and stop now too)
update again
picture of the 97.6% finished dashboard, its from a samurai don't you know
I also finished my brakes, and took it for a spin 100 yards up the road, felt so good
last thing on the list of to doo's is a spot of welding
as yuo can see, there is a bit where my foot rests and quite a bit on the corner of the bulkhead/floor where the previous offset wheels caught on full lock and full twist, anyway, will sort that later, now fr the hole.
step one
cut out rust until you hit good (ish, it is a 26 yea old suzuki after all) metal
step 2, make a template that kind of fits the hole using a bit of old box that you never throw away
Step 3, rather badly weld the whole way round in stages (i really hate old thin steel)
step 4, drill some holes to tie in with the cross brace and puddle weld
step 5, knock to tops off the welds, and hit it with some spray while still warm
step 6, spend the evening moaning to your wife that you back aches after spending so much time bent over in funny positions trying to weld that one small bit, and then dread the rest
step 7 totally unrelated but wanting to see how it looks, mock up the 2 latest purchase's from Mike Harris and the Ebay, along with a new k&n Filter you mate gave you
ummmmm tasty, no more hot start issues for me, might also be able to see past 5000 revs too
step 8, pack it all away leaving space for the 450 litre fish tank you got free thinking you can make money out of it, and admire the beauty (all be it filty and in need of a good polish, front wing, and maybe a drivers door)
I also ordered a prop spacer and 20 new wheel nuts from Bits4vits as well,
i am tired now reading all that, back to bed again.

I did get some plastic black sammy arches with the truck, i am not too bothered about the tyres sticking out, just wanted to cover over the hole in the rotten wing, thought a bigger defender arch could help.
thanks, it is getting there, be nice to drive something with feel again, my 11 plate skoda is pretty numb to drive, i have to rely on the gear indicator on the dash to let me know, i like old cars.Nice to see it coming along a bit more. Just the usual rust to sort them.

Strange you should say that, went to London over the weekend in my Exeo. 2.0td, 55mpg, cruise control etc....justaddmud wrote: thanks, it is getting there, be nice to drive something with feel again, my 11 plate skoda is pretty numb to drive, i have to rely on the gear indicator on the dash to let me know, i like old cars.
On the way home i was just thinking "i'd rather be driving my Zuk!"
I will get the KJA springs fitted and it taxed soon. The samurai is just taking all the money at the moment.

I forgot to add this to the last update, something i have always wanted on a black car, and my recent revival of watching this has also spured me on to do it

I think that's brilliant! I want one!
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
