Post by Richie » Wed Apr 24, 2013 7:32 pm

Finally got the g16a engine running in the sj  and then couldnt turn it off :er:

when i connect the battery the lights come on the dash come on as if the ignition is turned into poss 1 (even though its off)

Ive followed the guide for the 1.6 vitara into 410 wiring guide but something about my truck is alittle off, any ideas anyone?

Can you link to the guide.
How's the alternator connected up?

What alternator are you running? Is it one with the round plug like mine? On mine the ignition live that goes to the alternator doesn't actually connect to anything as there is no terminal on the alternator for that wire in the plug.

The only thing I can think of is that you have an ignition live (black w/white tracer) hooked up to a constant live feed that shouldn't be??

can you up some pics of how everything is connected?

I will put some picks up as soon as i can, im not sure if its the correct ault because it was a nightmare to fit (but my parts supplier crossed the numbers over and said it was standard for that engine)

I had 1 wire that done nouthing until u turned the key to engage that starter then it became live but the engine wouldnt do anything with this not connected. So ive connected it to the starter and now the battery lights etc are on even with the key out, so i guess its something around there. I will inspect this black and white wire thing. Thx

The trigger wire for the starter should be black w/yellow tracer, this should be the only wire connected to the starter apart from the main battery + feed
